The Paris Uniform by eighty jane A few days back from my trip to the fashion capital of the world, I’ve had a bit of time to reflect a bit on my experience. I was surprised (and maybe a little disappointed) to find that Parisian fashion didn’t seem to stand apart from the global...

Rick Owens protege Gareth Pugh has made incredible strides in distinguishing himself in the fashion community. He may not have the commercial success of Alexander Wang, for example, but among emerging designers he definitely sets the avant garde pace. Pugh was one of the first to do the fashion film, which is quickly heading...

Gossip singer Beth Ditto was spotted in Paris recently with designer Jean Charles de Castelbajac. (aka JCDC). Besides having terrific style, Ditto is one of my rockstar heroes with a kick ass voice. Check her and the band out in “Heavy Cross” from their Album Music for Men.

Collections like this aren’t usually my favorite, but Elie Saab’s Spring 2010 was gorgeous. I even loved a few of the one-shoulder dresses and I’m sick to death of the one-shoulder look. I can imagine celebrity stylist Rachel Zoe having a field day with this, as every piece seems prime for the red carpet....

But not until now has any collection made me gasp with delight. Such is the case for Givenchy Spring 2010. Riccardo Tisci is pretty much my hero right now...

La Lagerfeld seized upon the menswear for women trend to create looks he’d wear if he were a chick. Nothing to swoon over as I see it, but good solid pieces that should retain some relevance for several seasons. photos: wwd.com

Menswear inspired looks for women is a trend you’ll see in many collections for Spring 2010. However Japanese design stars Junya Watanbe and Yohji Yamamoto seemed especially keen an dress their dolls in crisp shirts and tailored jackets. Yohji Yamamoto Junya Watanbe

At first glance I thought the arrival pics from the Dior Spring 2010 show were the most interesting about the event. But after viewing the video, I realize that still pics simply don’t do the collection justice. Sorry I doubted you my dear Galliano :/ Icon von Teese looks like she could have stepped...
