As mentioned in my earlier Halloween 2009 post, I’m a big advocate of being festive for Halloween. However, I prefer not to be costume, but character-inspired. Seems like icon Michelle Obama feels the same. She wore a leopard print sweater with cat-like eye makeup and fuzzy ears for Halloween. Sure, she likely has some other PR considerations to make when choosing not to go all plastic and polyester, but my guess is the First Lady’s sense of style dictates that elegance anyway. That said, I’ll love all costumes because they recall how what we put on our bodies contributes to our personae. Love it or hate it, fashion matters.

What I Learned This Year: Men like a woman with a whip!

Another weekend gone by in the fine city of Atlanta, GA. It was a relatively low key one for this style spotter, but I did step out briefly on Friday to Glenwood Park’s wine bar and eatery Vino Libro. I’d been to the spot before, but never on a Friday night. It was packed! A bit too much so, really. The cramps quarters was understandable and forgiven once a took in the atmosphere – and my atmosphere I mean two glasses of pinot noir and the slammin’ sound of Gritz and Jelly Butter.

Although the wine was good, and the music even better, the highlight of my night was meeting Matthew Weaver – a custom clothier, personal stylist, and all around cutie. Although the crowd was generally decently dressed, Matthew stood out as being one of very few with a singular sense of style.
