Earlier this week fashion blogs and even business sites were buzzing about a new outfit creation called Couturious.com. Okay they weren’t buzzing, but they mentioned it. The site is made by the people behind polyvore.com and like.com and it seems they were trying to combine the creative drive of Polyvore with the super cash cow element of Like. Not a bad idea… too bad it was a complete rip off. If you’re into styling (and spending all day online) they way I am, you already know about Looklet.com. And if you know about that you’ll recognize how similar the concepts are.

Before I jumped to any conclusions, I reached out to Olle Hemmendorff – the creator of Looklet – to find out if perhaps he had collaborated on this new venture. No, he didn’t.

I’ve heard plagiarism is the sincerest form of flattery. But i’m not flattered. Apart from the glaring lack of original ideas, i also think couturious doesn’t show much of the quality or attention to detail, essentially the LOVE we’ve put into Looklet. I hope others recognize this as well.

WE recognize, Olle! I’m sticking with Looklet.

Leading Trend Solutions Provider for Style Professionals Adds Interactive Presentations for Global Analysis

New York, NY – Stylesight is further serving its rapidly expanding clientele through the introduction of a new series of Global Webinars, presented live in English, Portuguese, Spanish and Chinese. The leading provider of trend content, technology, tools and services for the style industry has launched a bi-monthly series of “Ask The Expert” sessions to present informative, targeted analysis to style professionals in a free, interactive setting.

“The Global Webinar Series is an exciting real-time opportunity for Stylesight to interact with our audience, and to provide them with valuable information and insight to help them get their jobs done,” says Frank Bober, Founder and CEO of Stylesight. “We realize that it is often difficult to find time to attend an in-person event; the webinar format allows us to deliver key content directly to our users in a more timely and efficient manner.”

The webinars will be presented live from a selection of Stylesight’s global offices. Each segment will be presented by members of the trend forecast and analysis team, expertly trained in the segment’s targeted topic ranging anywhere from designer apparel runway reviews to the latest themes in activewear. Sessions will detail a specific theme, style market and/or collection review; paired with a simultaneous, interactive Q & A, giving participants the opportunity to ask questions directly pertaining to their personal design and conceptual needs. Webinars will be presented multi-lingual, covering the Asian, South American and European markets. Each webinar will be available for view ‘On Demand’ immediately following the live feed… To register for the upcoming Global Webinar Series, please visit Stylesight.com/Webinars

New York, NY (PRWEB) September 10, 2009 — Today, Halogen Network announced the launch of FashionTweek.com. The Twitter powered Web site will aggregate all real time reactions to the shows, parties and people of New York Fashion Week with useful and user-friendly functionality. It will be live September 8-20, 2009.

The site will include sections where users can view Tweets from front row attendees, fashion bloggers, magazines, labels and models; a section on the site for all Fashion Week photos; a feed that aggregates all relevant Fashion Week Tweets from the Twitter population; and search capabilities of Twitter content by label or model keywords.

“At Halogen we believe in the need to engage consumers, not interrupt them. FashionTweek does that by integrating the Twitter powered, real time web with other useful functionality, such as a comprehensive schedule of events from all the venues,” says Gregory Shove, founder and CEO of Halogen Network. “The site offers real value to those attending and those following the shows and people that make up Fashion Week.”

“We are already working on FashionTweek Version 2.0, which will include expanded ability to search, sort and analyze trends from all the tweets coming out of Fashion Week. This version will go live February in time for the Fall 2010 Fashion Week.”

FashionTweek is sponsored by W Hotels. For additional information on FashionTweek, contact Jessica Avanzino at Jessica@halogennetwork.com.
