Tonight the world is being bathed in the light of a full moon in the sign of Scorpio. The Scorpion vibe is sexy, mysterious, and fluid. Full moons are a time for releasing, for letting go. Right now The Fashion Cult advises you to use this energy to let go of your sartorial inhibitions. Go ahead and be bold. Be sexy.

Red is a good luck color for Scorpio and of course a slinky red dress is incredibly sexy. Seek out a dress with fluid lines and material – silk or beautifully draped jersey, like the lovely examples below (click the photos for more info). Once you dip your toe into the intense waters of Scorpio’s alluring realm, you’ll feel more comfortable to take a dive into the deep. You don’t have to stay there, but it’s a useful card that you can pull out at any time of the year. Enjoy.

Pictured above (L to R): Debra Messing, Jennifer Morrison, Sigourney Weaver, Mila Kunis, Angela Kinsey, Lauren Velez, Carrie Preston

TV stars stepped out this evening to collect accolades and strut their stuff during the ever-important arrivals (as usual, far more interesting than the awards themselves). An incredible number of them chose to don the hue of the traditional red carpet – in shades ranging from orangey to berry-color to dead red. Paparazzi darlings Hayden Panettiere and Blake Lively confirm that red has gone from common to uber-trend.

But while red dresses seemed the most common, it was the white gowns that really made the stars shine. (Click for a larger view).

Pictured above (L to R): Guiliana Depandi Rancic, Kim Kardashian, Leighton Meester, Jessica Loundes, Perrey Reeves, Hannah Cornett, Alicia Witt, Olivia Wilde

And speaking of “shine” there was a considerable amount of glitz by way of metallic dresses on the carpet – to varying degrees of success.

Above (L to R): Holly Hunter, Shaun Robinson, Mariska Hargitay, Phoebe Price

Of course there were other trends on the carpet, including the ubiquitous one-shoulder dress… but what’s that they say about not beating dead horses?
