Ahhhh Libra... It is my favorite time of year. The weather is gorgeous: cool enough to break out the boots now and then, but still warm enough to go out on the town at night without piling on outfit-crushing layers. Libra, being about balance, loves the middle - the in between: feminine but not frilly, alluring but not overtly sexy, subtle and muted embellishments. Haute Horoscope: Sagittarius

Yes, I know: The sun in Sagittarius period ended yesterday. But isn't it fitting that I should just be getting around to archer's edition of Haute Horoscope? Just like a Sag birthday, it's almost been overlooked due to the bustle of a busy holiday season. I said almost. Sag, you are not forgotten! Your birthday gift might come wrapped in Christmas paper, but it's coming nonetheless. In fact, we'll just pick it up while doing some last-minute Christmas shopping. If you're in Atlanta there are plenty of places to get great holiday gifts and still avoid the mall madness.

One of my favorite L5P shopping destinations is a quaint little boutique called Envy. The shop specializes in trendy, yet unique pieces for the young and hip. They offer national brands and local labels and recently a few pieces of vintage, but I always seem to linger among the racks of jewelry. Much of it is handmade by Donna - the mother of boutique owner, Jilene.


Donna is friendly, very frank and, apparently, an astrological expert. During a recent visit we were chatting when she asked which is my sign. I admitted my Aries status and proceeded to nod as she listed a number of traits that I could not deny were my own. For the most part they were things I'd heard, read or recognized before. Then she threw this in: "and you're a sex addict." Wha?! Well, I said she's frank, didn't I? Don't strike up a convo about the Zodiac with Donna unless your ready for an eerily accurate portrait of yourself. It can be rather weird to hear - especially while within earshot of strangers.

haute horoscopeTM: Scorpio

I have a love/hate relationship with the period of Scorpio (and often with Scorpion people). It's the time of year when the light crispness of Fall begins to transition into the heavy blur of winter. Fall fashion with it's eye-catching accessories and lovely layers is forced to give way to the winter wardrobe - with it's cumbersome coats and such things that tend more toward necessity than variety.

Still, I can't help but be attracted to the dark passion that is Scorpio. Lucky for me, this fall has seen a slew of goth influenced style on the runways and in the magazines. From head-to-toe black to the resurgence of blood red hues, fashion has fallen into a brooding mood with a sophisticated glamour edge, which I love.


Speaking of dark and brooding, Alexander McQueen's fall collection was chock full of the kind of shadow and drama that Scorpio likes.


But, of course, when it comes to high drama meets high styles nothing beats a Dior haute couture show.



Such things are more than a bit on the obtuse side, however, and Scorpio likes to maintain more of a mystery. Viktor and Rolf perfected the mysterious sophisticate looks in their fall 06 show.

Indeed, much of Scorpio's incredible allure is it's mystery - the draw of the unknown. Skin may be hot, but nothing is hotter than being fully clothed and still sexy as hell. Surprisingly, I really enjoyed Dolce&Gabbana this fall. They wrapped the models all the way up to their chins and they look incredible.

Haute HoroscopeTM: LIBRA

Libra is the only inanimate sign of the zodiac, all the others representing either humans or animals. Maybe it's the balance factor that makes Libra so great. Like the weather at this time of the year, libra personalities are just warm enough, and just cool enough. Not so warm that you're like, "damn, could you back up off me" and not so cool that they come off as aloof. The perfect balance of personality and elegance - just like the perfect outfit.

I loooooove Tracy Reese and always wonder why I don't hear about her more often. She is definitely a rising star in the fashion world - one I expected to be around for a good long while. You won't see the androgyny trend rear its ugly head in her clothing. Even her touches of menswear are supremely woman.















Nanette Lapore
This label is more well known and much easier to find. Like Reese Nanette Lapore always managed to do ultra-feminine without falling into the "girly" trap. The mix of patterns is genius.

















Christian Lacroix
From among the fashion elite, Lacroix shows libraness by balancing rebelious colors and patterns with extremely ladylike silouettes.
