I don’t believe anybody thinks this is healthy. If not for plastic surgery to supplant these emaciated bodies they would not be on the runways. There is a lot of blame to go around. Yet, these are medical disorders.

hi, me again. i would also like to point out in the first picture, the model looks pretty skinny, but she has thighs, boobs, and a flat stomach. in the second picture however, she is much more noticeably skinnier. one of these pictures was obviously edited, and someone is cheating. unless this model lost 10 pounds in .5 seconds while walking.

this really angers me. it’s sad these models are wafer thin, but you look at the covers of these magazines: ” lindsay’s too thin! are these models too thin?” and then you turn the page and it’s like: ” 10 tips on how to lose 15 pounds in a week! lose that jiggle and look like a model!” we need to stop confusing all these poor girls. they work hard and lose weight by following orders, and then get rejected because people decide being thin isnt the “thing” anymore. society treats womanly image as a product for their own entertainment. think of these girls emotions. dont tell these girls to be skinny, and then reject them for doing so. these models are hardly the sick ones.

oh my. 5'9" at 98 pounds is like a -4, practically dead. obviously, zack, you're wrong that no one wants to see healthier forms on the runway, else we would be having this discussion. emaciated is not a dream for all of us. certainly not for me - it's a nightmare.

i understand the whole unattainable notion of models. but, in my humble opinion, they should still be attractive. sexy even. nothing that looks ill looks sexy.

Alot of people on this blog are full of shit! These people are just promoting discrimanation against models that are naturally thin. Spain is really full of shit too! Nobody wants to see normal women they want to see a dream something that is not real. By the way 5’9″ you’re suppossed to be like 98 pounds anything bigger and darling you are fat. But there is nothing wrong with that its okay to be curvy or fat. But If you don’t even know what couture is you should keep your mouth shut! BTW the girls on top model they are pretty fat! Go to europe those girls are thin. STOP STOP STOP STOP STOP THE STUPID SKINNY BAN ALL YOU PEOPLE ARE DOING IS FUCKING UP THE INDUSTRY AND THE MODELS THAT SHOULD STAY A SIZE 0 1 2 OR 3 ANYTHING AFTER THE 3 IS FAT FOR THE RUNWAY. This is so overdue! I’m so glad that some1 is putting their foot down on this issue. It’s one thing to be skinny but this girl is clearly starving herself. When did the Anne Frank look become acceptable? I hope this is the sonic boom that it heard all around the fashion world.

5'9'' only 110?!? That's crazy. I know girls that are about 5'5'' and want to be 110 or 115, which is practically nothing.

And now I kind of understand how women feel (n/h). I work at Abercrombie and Fitch, where the male standard is 180 pounds of straight muscle and ridiculously good looking. Meanwhile, I average five or six inches then the other dudes yet weigh in about 153. I often look in the mirror and want to be bulkier, trying desperately to achieve this by eating and working out but to no avail.

I know it ain't the same but I often feel low because of my skinniness.

this is why i say Cathy Gould is full of shit: the so-called ban only states that models that are 5’9″ have to way at least 123lbs – this is still an incredibly small figure, so naturally tall thin models have nothing to worry about. before the ban, 5’9″ models averaged 110lbs. Can you believe that?!

Thank God for Spain! Seriously, I used to look at the whole thing as a scapegoat but as time has passed and I notice how models look I say it's real sickening.

I mean, look at Top Model. Nearly all the girls are sickly skinny. At least the other seasons had variations in wieght and size. Now all the girls are too damn thin with bodies of thirteen year old girls. The only "normal" sized woman on the show is the light skinndeded black chick who was a cheerleader in high school. You kno, the one Tyra burned up?
